You can run with the 109 and the Vmax. The D (Night Rod, like we have, yours is just newer) will surprise a lot of sport bikes in the corners. Don't be surprised if the sport bikes don't try to launch with you. They can't hit 60mph in 3 1/4 seconds and most know it. (The ones that don't, end up on their backs with a motorcycle on top of them.)
There are several other differences between the D and DX, most notably the mid controls with highway pegs on the D. The DX has forward controls and drag bars. As you noted the D has a 180 rear compared to the DX's 240. The 180 corners a lot better.
Other than that, enjoy the ride. The D is a great cruiser that doesn't care if the road is straight or twisted.

wellthanks for the in put i cant wait til it warms up some.i have some good ride ability.i raced an cbr 900rr.both drag and road.it was a fast bike but in drags i ran it in street trim and it would pull the wheel way up so i could never launch hard.but 1 time i got thrown out of the track for runnin the 1/4 on one wheel they said it was dangerous.i told them i was in complete control.i ran an 11.8 on 1 wheel with a big *** smile on my face...lol

 

The D makes the CBR feel like a Kenworth. As great as the CBR900 was in it's day, it's day has past.
