Default Carey Faas racing pipes?

I see a lot of posts on here about different after market pipes. My bike currenty has the CFR racing pipes on, and is so freaking loud it sets off car alarms. I don't like the original pipes because it sounds like a sewing machine it's so quiet. Is there something inbetween that looks goodbut doesn't deafen you?

BTW, the bike came with the CFR's on - but I never see them mentioned on the board. Can any of you guys that know the bike tell me what the advantage of them is? Are they performance, or just for waking the neighbors? If you could choose anything, what would you choose? Thanks again for putting up with yet another stupid quesiton.....

Lisa

I have the CFR on my bike as well, but I don't think they are to loud. I love how they have that very deep rumble especially at idle, but of you think they are to loud youo can get Vortex cones and install them. I haven't heard the pipe with them, but the people that have done it seem to like them. You can get them here:

Thanks Mike,

I like the way they sound at idle too, and love the way they look. So you don't set off car alarms with yours? Thanks for pointing me to the vortex cones - it's worth a try. By the way, the picture of your bike is great. I love the paint.

Yeah I set off alarms sometimes, but most of my riding is all backroads and cars aren't parked on the streets, so it's not much of a problem. Thanks for the compliment on my bike.

I have the CFR on my R. I put Big city thunder baffles in them and a vortex cone to quiet it down a little.

You can do th ebaffle and cone and it should tame it down some.I had the CFR for about 2 years.I just replaced it with the Reinhart 2-1 and it is awesome!

I've had some people tell me that the CFR's aren't that loud, others that it feels like a sonic boom when passing by. Can you tell me what you like about the Reinhart 2-1's? Performance? Look? and are they quieter than the CRF's. The CFR's are growing on me.The Sportster has Vance Hines (??) and is a lot quieter.

Thanks for the advice on the baffle and cone, I'm going to give that a try no matter what......

Thanks,

Lisa

You're thinking of SuperTrapp exhaust Monk, not the CFR.
