2008 VRSC 'D' Purchase
Hi everyone,I am in Canada here contemplating selling my Hondas and ordering the Night Rod D model with the chrome option in Vivid Black.
From my research so far, this bike is extremely rare nowadays (up here anyway).I have a feeling it will be discontinued up here soon as the dealers are simply not ordering them.I do dig the mid-mount controls and better handling of the 180mm rear tire.I love the drag bike appearance but with the chrome classy look of a cruiser.
MSRP is $16,629 Canadian.
How do you find this bike for all day trips?
I am thinking about this purchase too much,
cheers
DD

RE: 2008 VRSC 'D' Purchase
In the last 12 months we've put almost 8,000 miles on our 06 D. About half of that is riding double. It's a great day-tripper and over-nighter. Most of those miles were put on around Phoenix, AZ. Teperatures were around 120F when we left last July. The D never complained. We even made a couple of trips to the mountains hitting elevations over 10,000 feet.
IMHO the D is the most versatile of all V-rods. It loves the twisties and eats up the straights. I think you'll enjoy the bike. I like the stock seat, my wife didn't like the D Touring Pillion. If you plan or riding double or just don't care for the stock seat, save your self a lot of greif and expense and getSundowner seats. That and our custom sissy bar has made a big difference in the comfort of our D. Ginz Custom Choppers (ginzchoppers.com) was the only place we found that would make a sissy bar for us.

Can't speak for the D but I can tell you that the Revolution engine is a dream to be on. In the mid-summer I'm not complaining about sitting in traffic but I hear my Brother yell constantly "Gotta move, gotta move. No air, no cool!" I've also had a couple of300 a day trips(more than some, less than others ) and have felt great afterwards. Not sure about a 3000 mile trip but I'm sure I'll see the start of one someday and I'm not cringing when I think about it.
And I would try for cheaper than MSRP if they are not selling too well.
