This may sound silly, but try useing a rubber backed bathroom mat on your seat. I used to take lots of long (600+) rides on my sporty, butt hurt like heck. I tried this trick, ( old rider with a rigid told me ) worked like a charm. butt felt good after that. If you're just going to make a few rides that long, might give this a try, for $5, what have you got to loose? Give it a try while riding around before you go, that should tell you.
I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one here that had ever had a 600 mile day on a sporty?.......

Try a six hundred mile day on an SR500, or any other thumper.

I rode a 2003 VRSCA 850 miles strait on two spearate occasions. I have no problem haning in there with guys on the touring sofas. Drag bars, no windshield, a half helmet (when required)with gogglesand a pretty skimpy seat. Having the ability to switch seating position does more for me than a big soft seat that locks you into a single position.

You got that right RJ. Kind of explains why I prefer the D over the V-rods.
Making the long rides on the thumper I would hang me feet on the passenger pegs and lay down on my back pack on the tank. I found a couple of other way to move around on that old bike. The Night Rod is built for long rides, Intersate or back country roads.
If I getto make my planned trip in a couple of months, I have no doubt I could knock off a pair of 850 mile days. I would rather take 4 days and meet other V-rodders, and anyone else, along I-10/I-20.

I would get a screen, and some thing from T Bag and a gel insert for the seat.

I often do about 500 - 600 miles a day
