Default Thinking about buying a V-ROD...

Hey guys, first post in this section. I noticed there’s not much activity here...hmm. I’m thinking about buying a V-ROD and have a couple questions.

What’s the future parts availability look like? I have a 72 shovel and can still buy every part, Nut and bolt for that bike. What about the VROD?

Where’s a good place for aftermarket parts? I noticed JP cycles for early doesn’t have much.

Any and all thoughts welcomed and appreciated.

Try 1130CC.com, they will have a load of suggestions.

Buy the bike, you will not be disappointed. Just be prepared to take a lot of stupid $hit for it "not being a real Harley" from the old school crowd. Then you can laugh at them and easily blow them all away.

You didn't say what year? There were changes throughout the life of the V-Rod so you may want to do some reading here to start https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harley-Davidson_VRSC

I had an 09 for a while then went back to a Touring bike as I enjoy them the most. Nothing wrong with a V-Rod but if I were to get another I would look at the V-Rod Muscle as I like the exhaust design on that model.

As noted by BBM 1130cc.com is the hangout for everything V-Rod.

Yeah, funny thing though: I bought my first Harley in 1979. Rode with clubbers in the 80’s and was a mechanic at a dealership. I was also a powerlifter who squatted over 700 and benched in the 500’s. In addition, I was a martial artist before most people ever heard of it. And finally, I was a bouncer in both bars and strip clubs. The reason I quit working at the dealership, I kid you not, was because I got so tired of all these tattooed sidewalk-commandos acting hard.

It’s a real Harley.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it. Can’t wait to get one...

Thanks bro...yeah, read the wiki article. Lots of changes over the years. But is there a huge difference in performance between an ‘07 and ‘08, the year they upped the displacement?

No. Unless you are a real speed junkie I would not concern myself with the difference between the 1130 and 1250. It's roughly 5 hp.

Note the rear tire width changed around the years your looking at. Some liked the thinner rear some the wider. I love the look of the wide rear wheel

If you get one get the streetrod version, it handles way better than a night or muscle

It's also set-up (seating position) more like a rice rocket.
