2015 NightRod Special Oil Leak
Ladies and Gents,
I'm new to Harley and new to motorcycles but I purchased a 2015 NightRod Special a couple of months ago and I put 635 miles on it so far. My experience is 0 so I also have about 635 miles of riding. Being a newb I did not go above 3500-4000 RPM for the first 500 miles to break in the engine and haven't gone above 5k after 500 miles(being a bi*** I know) just because I am warming myself up to riding. What I did notice yesterday however when I pulled into work was that the front and rear cylinder housing where I assume would be the head gaskets seem to be leaking oil. the front left of the forward cylinder and the back right of the rear cylinder. I will be able to post pics later if this is an unclear description. So far it hasn't leaked enough to put drips down in my garage or anything over night but there is noticeable leakage that is streaked down each area, wiped down and then more once I shut down today. I rode in again today and notice no difference in engine sound or power pull but I am still pretty much babying the bike anyway. Is this a normal part of the break-in or not? I don't think a bike this damn expensive should be leaking with this amount of miles on it ridden the way I ride.
Any and all info you all can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
