Yes to get the hardware in correctly you do have to remove the axle. you dont have to remove to wheel completley. The threads showing will be determined by what shock you are running. a quick trip to the hardware store or a cutoff wheel will fix that problem.

so i get the advantage in the hills and twisties, that is where i wish i was riding all the time, but unfortunatly i do alot of blasting around San Antonio interstates and highways
how does having the back end an inch higher affect 100+ highway riding
also how long have these been out, any reports of them coming loose or cracking?
