Default What percentage of Harleys on the road are soft tails?

I was trying to put a number on it and I am having a hard time.

Figured you guys might be able to give me a better idea.

How many of the Harley bikes on the road are a soft tail model?

I have no idea, but I'd guess around 20%. The most would come from the Dyna and Sportster models, and the smallest group would be the Touring class.

I see just the opposite when I'm out and about. More FLH's than anything, then Softails, then Sportsters and Dynas.

I see touring bikes wherever I look. I'd say Sportsters come in second, and then it's a toss-up between Softails and Dynas. I see a V-rod every now and then.

Well, take the total sales figures of each model for the past decade, add them up by class, divide by the number of softails, and there ya go.. i forget the site where it shows how many units HD sold by year..then take in to consideration number of trade-ins, number of crashes, etc... but from what I see out on the road, I would honestly say that Touring bikes make up the largest percentage..even after bike rallys/gatherings, i see more Street Glides/Road Glides/Road Kings more than I see softails

I live near Ft Bragg which means a lot of young guys with a lot of extra money. More softtails around here, then baggers, a few Dynas and an occasional Sportster. I would say it has a lot to do with the demographics of your area.
