Dang, it looks like the syn blue filter only works with the cyclone and not with the transparent. That's a bummer. I was set on it.

Wonder why it doesnt work with the clear? Either way a good product!

The synthetic filter is a bit deeper than the K&N. The Transparent cover uses part of the backplate to support it, but can't with the syn filter being deeper.

The Cyclone has the clear cover sandwiched between the two Cyclone plates, so it does not need part of the backplate to support it.

So I am thinking black cyclone with syn filter.

I have the 587 with the Solid Polished cover and the Tri-star which is basically the same set-up as the very first pic in the thread. I have the K&N filter and have not had one issue with oil oor dirt pick-up yet, plus the color matches my bike better than the blue. I need to change my sig pic but here are a couple with it on.
