I hear quite a few people say that they can't tell a seat of the pants difference in the lower rpm's.

green, I guarantee no doubt about it, my HQ motors will get your seat of the pants attention.

when I first built the 95,
when the machine hooked up in second,
it felt like both wheels left the ground momentarily.

that motor was still pulling hard in every gear right up to the limiter at 6400
same with the 121

the 121 is a monster that obeys. a guided missile.
I can run the 1/4 mile back to back and over and over
in the low 12s high 11s consistently on a street tire

just shifting out of third at the other end at about 114 mph.

then ride it back to the house and run in third at 30 mph perfectly well mannered.

in the 1/4,
a well built 95 will pretty much run nose to nose with the 121 (street tires)

on the open road,
the 121 will flat out walk away

*what exactly has changed from each build?*
.same HQ cams in each motor
everything else is bigger better
95 cost around 2500
121, when all is said and done close to 8

*Is the bike any less comfortable to ride?*
.no

*Did the gas mileage dramatically decrease? *
.no

*Was there a considerable difference in power in the lower end? *
.yes considerable

Tman performance recommended stage 3 heads, 98'' kit, 625 cams, 10.5:1 comp, and the cycle shacks he says will be fine......sweet just gotta wait for more info on the nikisil....[/quote]

QD, the way I see it,
if you are goin with tMan,
you gotta go with what he recommends
or go home.

he may be offering package A package B etc
these guys know what works.

and whatever, a quality tune is a must.

the nicasil, I dunno much,
but I believe there were some serious issues early on
and changes were made. maybe. ask tMan.

When you did Joe's bike did you need to do compression releases on the heads? I actually want to do a build almost identical to that, except my bike is carbed and i'm not sure which carb to run. I would be running the D&D Fatcat performance baffle exhaust when i built it.

Spending a ton of cash on a 100" or less engine will just get you frustrated if you dont hit that magical number. You might not notice 3hp up or down on the seat dyno.

Two things will happen, you will either be really happy with it, or you will go back in for more......Those same two things will happen if you do a high dollar 95/98" or a budget 95/98".

We build Joe Knapps 95" for like $1500 including a dyno break in and tune.

Yep, we did CR's. Not required, but very helpful.

Quad;I just left my dealer and we discussed the t-man build I am planning.06 SG 28000 miles Rineharts.SERT.T-Man stage II heads,T-Man tw625 cam,S&S 97" kit,Hydrolic cam chain tensioner upgrade, new inner 148's,adj pushrods,99b lifters, cometic gaskets, dyno tune installed complete...then dyno after break-in miles 3715.90.Should do 105/110 TQ and HP....(from T-man) but we will see.As for the rev performance stuff from what I have read there was problems early on but they have worked it out.T-man can bore yours to 98" ....I went with the S&S 97 because I have a damaged jug and wanted to replace mine. Its a chunk of change to spend only time will tell if it was worth it.

If you are looking for aftermarket jugs, look at www.Axtellsales.com They are IMO the best out there in aftermarket cylinders.

I would suggest a less radical engine for reliablility. You dont need a .625 cam on a 97 to hit 105/110. I damn near hit that with a 95" with 9.8:1 compression and an andrews 37 (.510) cam. It idled very good, ran great on good or cheap gas, ran very cool, great torque, 12.6 quarter mile with 260lb rider! Great reliable engine with very good street manners.

2D....I'd be really interested to see what the difference in power on our builds comes out too!!! Your's fuel injected and with rineharts....mine carbed with 1'' more disp. , cycle shacks and the stage 3 heads.....I'll have to post my dyno results when it's all said and done. But those are just about the #'s I am looking at for mine as well.

And yeah Tman said that most of the problems come from people not cleaning the jugs properly or not setting the pistons in properly, another 60$ he'll prep the cylinders and set in the pistons.....there goes that worry.
