It has to come apart again. Looks like the oil relief cylinder is scored too badly to use. I am so sick of working on this bitch.
Dammit!

Have you attacked it again, or are you still walking by, giving it the stink eye,.... while muttering expletives?

Default All Better Now

Thanks to djl, for donating a cam plate, the rebuild was completed. Oil pressure comes up to 32 psi quickly, probably due to the high output pump. I also installed new outer cam bearings, and that seems like it was a good thing to do, as it tightened up the slop and wobble of the cams in the plate. I finally broke the old oil relief plunger free by whacking it sharply with a punch. Seems there was some kind of hangup when it was in the totally closed position. Well, now I have a backup. I put 90 miles on it and all was good, except I needed to adjust the primary chain one notch tighter. I did that, and right on schedule, the rain came pouring down.
Looking forward to a good ride Sunday. Dry, sunny, and 10 degrees cooler than last week.
Just when I thought my mechanical chores were done for the summer, the wife unit bought a 1987 dodge van. Here we go !

My 2004 TC88 FLHTC had just 28k miles on it when I noticed the Oil Pressure Gauge hit "o".
I shut her down , brought it to a shop which showed me the Tensioner Pad (front) had broken up into tiny pieces,
Clogging the Oil Passages. That was quite the clean out job for sure.
While both were replaced at the time, they get checked at 20k now.
Funny thing is that there was no noise or other clue besides the Oil Gauge going to zero.
