S&S reed valve for 124TC build
#11
SE pump. At that time the S&S pump did not yet exist, i believe, maybe10 years ago. I checked clearance behind pump to reed valve. There is a spring washer that goes between.
I read their reasoning for them but had no issues without, and having functioning stock breathers.

Hi Everyone,
Building a 124 TC bottom to top.
Included with the Crankcase was a crankcase breather reed valve?
I’ve heard mixed reviews on this part.
Can some of the builders out there please explain, so that I can make an informed decision as to fit or not to fit?
It should also be noted that I’ll be using the TC3 S&S oil pump which is compatible with the reed valve.
Best regards

Do you by any chance have a picture of the oil pickup in the crankcase for the SnS case?
FWIW I had early gen 1 or 2 cases that HD claimed infringed on the HD patent so SnS stop making them. IIRC the patent finally ran out.. My cases came with the reed valve but I didn't use it. At the time many that tried the reed valve in motors had issues with sumping..

Above is a picture with the reed valve partially fitted for reference.
I haven’t got any pics with the cases split. I’ve set my end play and sealed the thing together…
FWIW this is the newest version of the T-series case with an ‘A’ at the end of the part number.

It that the reed valve system modification I have attached below from your picture.
Obviously the cam case cover is different also.

Now I see them. So the finial breathing is up thru push rod covers and out thru the one way out popet valve in head.
Not sure exactly the need or real purpose. Normal crank side base pressure comes thru roller crank bearing and also up head drains.
