anyone know how to ID cams in an unknown engine?
Hey All,
Got a mystery engine that was supposed to be a RE barrelled 103 to 110 with S&S cam chest and oil pump.
Stripped it down to make one engine out of 2 and found it only has 3.850 bores (103).
The Cams look like S&S numbers etched on them but do not come up in their system
106-4861 R 18513 (Rear Cam)
106-4860 F 16413 (Front Cam
Can anyone tell me if these are S&S ones and if so which ones are they?
Cheers

Generally S&S marks the inner cam lobe (the intake) on the inner side with the cam designation. This example is their 640 cams and the G indicates gear drive. As well the inner end of the cam has part numbers.
I know that S&S has changed their part numbering scheme over the past few years, so I would suggest sending the numbers you have to them and ask them what they are.
