Looking at my first Twin Cam. Any advice?
I'm looking at a 16 Street Bob with less than 5k on it. I own 2 Evo's, a 90 and a 94. This would be my first Twin Cam and my first fuel injected bike.
anything I should look out for? i know the early Twin Cams had tensioner issues. Don't know if they still do. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Todd

Honestly, the later twin cams are so damn good. Nothing really jumps out to me, especially when considering a low mile 2016. Tensioner issues not applicable here, that was in the 88” twin cam days. The FI may take a little getting used to for you, but I think you’ll appreciate it. As a carb guy, I wasn’t a fan at first but now dig it.
With only 5k miles, bike may still have the original 2015/2016 date code tires. Something to use to your advantage in negotiations.

A 2016 is going to have hydraulic cam chain tensioners. Not too much an issue, but the tensioner shoes still wear. With only 5k miles on the bike they are not of concern.
Buy it up. I love my 2014 Street bob. Not much if anything changed on the 14-17 street bobs since they got the 103 in 2014.

The crank problem is nothing to lose sleep over. If it was, there would be a lot more dead Harleys for sale. It's not like people are measuring runout at every oil change and selling them when they get sloppy.
Sometimes things happen...especially if you build a hot rod around a stock crank and beat on it every time you ride it.
