Did you ever find out what your noise was?
Don’t leave us hanging now.
Reversion makes a lot of sense!

He never did say if he put a tuner on the bike, with that cam IVC close of 32° I'm wondering if the motor is running lean and detonating...

At 23k could it be primary bearing, and you are not hearing it at louder speeds. I went throughg two every 25k.

My 2007 had vibrations clatter and did not like being ridden below 3k until I replaced the automatic chaintensioner with a hayden. Whether I would use a hayden or harley B or C version, I can't say. Also I can't say why it happened. I called it gear clatter, but that was just a word that came to mind.

You 2008 has IDS, wear my 2007 did not, so there are differences. I have heard the IDS wears out. That is low miles, but maybe old rubber. I never did install the retro IDS on 2007, so I really can't say
