Default Oil pressure issue

2004 Electra Glide with 38,000 miles. Just had cam tensioners done by an independent shop. First 50 miles all fine. Take it out today and put another 50 miles on. At cold oil its fine. At hot and under load, riding, pressure is at 32. Good. Come to a stop at idle, and it stays at 32. What kind of issue could this be? Called the shop today but they don't open until Monday.

Since it's just been apart, who knows? Cam plate and or oil pump not installed and torqued correctly? A seal on the pump split or town during the install?

It likely needs to be opened up to see what is going on. I wouldn't ride it until it can be checked out. And I'd have it towed to the shop.

Is this pressure on the Harley gage in the fairing? Or with an aftermarket gage?

It's the fairing gauge. It would be a heck of a coincidence if it's bad. And it was reading correct at cold and hot at speed.

I'm thinking pressure relief spring but IDK

Pretty easy to double check with an independent gage.

Not the spring; the piston. Pull it out and pollish it up; can be done with cam plate in place.

I'd put money on the pressure sensor. The reason being that at idle the oil flows out of the passages faster than the pump can supply so the pressure will drop at lower RPM. When hot the valve is typically closed at idle. Open to regulate pressure at say about 2000 rpm. (Varies)

Add: if the valve was sticking, the pressure would peg the gauge.
