I don't normally suggest an SE cam but the SE 204 is an exception and would do nice here in a stock 96 as a hotrod cam.
If you still had the stock head pipes a pair if Rush slip ons would give the same torque curve as the cycleshacks someone mentioned only 4-5 hp and torque better across the board.

Or the TW5-6.

Part # TW-5-6

.053 Timing - 17/37 - 39/15

.053 Duration - 234

Lift TDC - .174 - .160

Springs - Stock

Thanks for all the comments. As said previously, I don’t want this to turn into a cam debate. I’m pretty much set on the Woods 555. I will definitely give fuelmoto a call tho and see what they recommend for my stock setup.

The stock compression of a 96" motor is 9.2:1... I know you said you didn't want to debate cams but the 555's really do need 10.0:1 comp.. As suggested by 60gunner the Tw-5-6 is a very underrated cam.. A .030" head gasket would make a nice difference especially with the Woods 222's..

Yes, I think you are partially right. I spoke with a tech guy at fuelmoto and he was saying the Woods 555 would be better suited if I had a 2 into 1 exhaust. He suggested I went with the Woods 222 with my stock setup and dual pipes exhaust.

I could see using the 555s in a 103 that has a little higher compression at 9.6 but not the 9.2 of a 96. You will regret that. A 2in 1 won't help either.

No matter what cam you go to, You're going to need a tuner and I suggest you get Power Vision PV-2B. And believe it or not a .030 head gasket that you do yourself will give it a little more bump IN compression to around 9.4:1 which will make that 222 work really nice.. it should put your ccp to around 180 psi.. You can still use your stock pushrods and will probably need new lifters and cam bearings..

edited... Forget the Power Vision, forgot you had a SEPST.

What would a .030” head gasket do? What does that entail? Thanks!

Edit: So a thicker head gasket can increase compression? What is the stock gasket size I have on the 96”? More work to remove the head/s I suppose. I just wanna change the cams for a simple stage 2 right. All this extra **** is confusing.

A thinner head gasket increases compression a little. It also tightens up the squish which is more advantageous.
stock is .045.
Nothing confusing about it. Pull the heads, replace the gaskets.

^^^^Great info. I decided to go with the Woods 222’s. Bought the whole kit from fuel Moto and will hopefully install next week, along with some new tires and a tune. Can’t wait to feel the results!
