No disrespect intended but if you have been a member of this or other HD forums, you would "get it"; its a subject that has been beat to death and everybody has their favorite; there is no silver bullet. If you are going to be a regular on this forum you don't have to be an expert on Harley's but you do need fairly thick skin and a sense of humor.

The general consensus on oil is break in on a specific product like Shell Rotellal or a specific break in product from Amsoil or another vendor and once rings have seated, dump the break in oil and run whatever your heart desires.

JMHO: If it's a newly built engine, new seals, ect., you can go either way. I would go synthetic!! If it's an engine that has had synthetic since new, stick with syn.. If it's and engine that has had dino since new, stick with dino.

I have read that syn can cause old dino engines to have seal leaks that they may not have had if dino was used.

One last thing. I believe you are pre-catalytic. I would look for either type oil with the highest ZDDP/zinc I could find. For dino, Valvoline VR1, for syn IIRR Mobil1 has a V Twin or something that has high zinc.

I thought the Aw jeez was funny
