Keep mangling it. Look closely at the one I removed. It eventually will pop out. You do need one with a good 90 degree bend to hook the steel part of the seal..

Not sure how you get a screw into the steel on this... The flat part of sheet metal in the seal is only about 1/16" wide..

I agree It seems way to narrow to try that..

I never did anything like this before and it seemed easy enough. I was starting to think I was some kind of gasket seal Savant but now I am humbled. 😆

I'm at a loss .. I get the pry tool behind the seal but cannot budge it. Use a claw hammer to act as a slide hammer.. its in there so good that it straightens out the 90deg bend

You need to do the mod to a better screwdriver. Grab it with a pair of vise grips and while pulling things tight tap on the vise grips with a small hammer. The one with that has the paint on it looks to be the better of the 2. The chrome one looks like a really cheap screw driver. Grind off the end a little and try again..

The ones I used are Excelite, Craftsman and Great Neck..

I did modify better screwdrivers..
I am in the process of modifying my slide hammer to hold vise grips .. me simply just pulling on it is not going to happen.

Well, I can't be sure but I think whoever installed this may have put it in backwards..I removed all the rubber . The claw I made from screwdriver was never getting behind metal it was squeezing against outer lip ..

same way you'd drive any screw. I honestly wouldn't have suggested the method if it hadn't worked for me on more than a few occasions...but hey the guy that makes screwdrivers needs a job too. Lol
