110" Dyna Woods Triple 8's...
#51
I had some false knock counts after installing the Wood TW-222s in my 96" It was mostly around 3000 rpm and 70 to 80 kpa.
Hundreds of counts but no pinging could be heard. I kept pulling timing until it was retarded 6 degrees and it didn't improve. A richer AFR seemed to make it worse. I never had this problem with stock cams and I believe it's the increased cylinder pressure.
Going to .035 instead of .040 plug gap helped a lot. At .035, with NGK dcpr8e plugs, I was only getting 5 knocks in 100 miles. After talking to Fuel Moto I learned that I was chasing nothing. They also recommend oem plugs and wires. I have a stock engine with bolt in cams so you may be in a different boat.
The OEM plugs at .032 did the trick. I even tested my luck and beat the hell out of it on a tank of 89 octane...only one knock. Im still using the Screamin Eagle wires since I got it under control.
I don't know if this it worth anything but I measured the resistance of various plugs.
Stock 6r12 = 116 ohms
Stock Vrod plug 10r12a = 33k to 36k ohms
NGK dcpr7e, dcpr8e, dcpr8eix were around 5000 ohms

I took the same measurements a while back.. When I was using the NGK's I was getting a lot of false known so I went back to the 6r12's and it was clean as a whistle.. That was in the 103@10.2:1 with Woods TW5-6 cams and same stage II heads. My compression is a lot higher now, 11.2:1 so I'm going to set the timing back 2°in the entire table and do another data log and go from there..

Doesn't say if they're colder but are made for higher compression so I imagine it would be a colder plug..
