Default Cams

Greetings!, I had a 2004 R/K that I added Andrews26g cams and V&H 2/1 pipe and it ran well . Now I just purchased a stock 2005 RK and plan to changes cams when I go into camchest an check the crank. Is there is a big difference between the Andrews 26 and the S&S 510 cams. On paper they look close when comparing the numbers. This 2005 bike will stay an 88 for a while, is carburated and will be getting a Bassani 2/1. I know this is old equipment but its what I have at this time andI like the older bikes. Any experiances with the S&S 510 cams, I would appreciate. . Thanks!

The S&S 510 has a later intake closing and quite a bit more duration and will require more compression. You'll lose some low end. I would say if you're happy with the Andrews 26 get another, or possibly the Andrews 21 or S&S 509 for a stock 88 bagger.

Go with the Andrews 26s.

You already know they work well, plus they work pretty good in a mild 95 (should you decide to go that way) too!

I expect the above is true, however back in `02 when I installed 510Gs it was the bolt in cam as there was NO 509 at that time.
My desire was to eliminate the tensioners, the cleaner running at mid to high was a plus
I didn`t notice any loss in low end but then again neither myself nor passenger are "large"
That said I ran them in a stock carbed 88" with a 2-1 pipe for 15K miles and liked them
Took them out when I upgraded to 98" and replaced with 570G

I got Woods TW 6 and like them a lot. Plenty of torque.
