MM efi to carb conversion problems
So I have a 2000 RK with a newer 100"BB kit and a set of 509 cams. Decided to do the carb conversion as the MM wouldn't allow the motor to be free. Used the thunderheart stand alone ignition, S&S super E carb. Set the carb to factory settings as the instructions guided me to. And hooked up the thunderheart ignition. Bike started and I rode it to warm up to final adjust Carb. Bike rode great ND strong. Rode about 4 miles. Pulled in driveway and shut off to go get some water S it was warm out. Came back out 10 mins later and Bike will not start. Backfires through intake and exhaust. Finally got started and sounds like a 2 stroke and would not stay running. Checked valve adjustment (checks good) checked brand new carb (checks good) swapped plugs didn't fix, swapped crankshaft position sensor didn't fix. Double checked all wiring and that seems good. I'm at a loss. Any help is appreciated.

Did you put on new intake manifold seals when ya changed it to the S&S manifold? On my 07 Delpi EFI 96" Dyna, I converted to the Thunder Heart unit and a Mikuni with new seals and no problems. When ya turn on the ignition the TH red LED should light up.Single Fire Coil should be 3 ohms.

A few years ago I had a similar issue. Intake & exhaust backfires. Nursed it home checked everything out. Found the hi tension tower contact burned to a crisp. Put an new S&S replacement coil on it . . . after 2 months it crapped out again. So, got nothing to loose at this point since "Quality" expensive parts are pure crap. Got an ULTIMA Single Fire Coil that has been perfect for 6 years now.

Issue
I was thinking about what happened when it stopped running and was going through all the work I have done to this bike lately. Remembered that it backfired and quit and wouldn't start after. Started going over all connection and found that the map sensor plug blew out when back fired. Found the plug in the driveway and now just waiting for family to wake up so I can try it.

FANFKNTASTIC!!!!!!!! Here's a little FYI for ya. I've got a Super E on my 77 XLH 1000. Timing, valve adjustment and carb dialed in to perfection. I know, if it ain't broken . . . . Put a YOST POWER TUBE in it. Main jet went from 0.070 to 0.066 and intermediate jet went from .0295 to .0285. In my main jet 3rd gear "test" it hit 85 with ease and still had 1 gear to. LOL Actually idles and runs smoother, not to mention the increase in my MPG.
