I think your build plan cams could benefit with a little more compression tho. Maybe deck heads to about 87cc. if you already have them. Should bring torque numbers up
Or go with his stock heads, have them ported, and use flat tops. If I could've taken enough off my stock heads to get the compression I wanted with flat tops instead of 3cc domed I sure would've. You'll get a more efficient burn with a flat top over a domed. The ported heads by a good head porter goes without saying. He'd probably save a little as well. $899 for Don to work his magic.

Thanks for the input and keep it coming. Looking at reliability with a little more get up and go. Mostly reliability. Keeping the compression down and the stroke should help in that area. Not saying the faster builds are not reliable but I ride a lot. Plan on selling the Rocket X due to being way too much bike for me at 64 with a bad back and Knee. So the Harley will be the only bike I own. Nine months out of the year I ride 120 miles a day back and forth to work. Not counting road trips, poker runs and toy runs. This is going to be a long thread once the parts start coming in.

The S&S 89cc heads should come with a "special" set of lower rocker box gaskets for use with stock harley rocker boxes. If using the stock harley rocker boxes you "MUST" use them. They have a cut-out in them and are thicker for crankcase breathing. The S&S heads don't have a channel cast into them for breathing like stock. The gasket cut-out acts like a channel. Goofy way to do it but works

Compression, or lack of it, will affect your low end torque. Well all of it but most notably low end. Its partly why I have such good low end torque with similar cams.
