99 FXDX No Start
#11
I do not have a compression tester, but I’ve held my thumb over the spark plug hole on each cylinder and it blows my thumb off hard with every revolution. I don’t think my problem is compression. As far as the cam chains, there’s no nasty noises coming from that area. The spigot is capped off with a new cap, that’s one of the things I replaced when I first got the bike. I’ve tried new plugs and properly gapped them with no luck. And yes I’ve done the trick on the diagnostic connector and got a 44 code which is bank angle sensor. I replaced that part with no luck either. Crank sensor has been replaced, isn’t the cam sensor/ ignition module the same?
Check the codes again, if it comes back, it could be what's causing the "No Start" You might have a broken wire..
On a 99 bike there should be a sensor under the small cover. IIRC in 2001 it was removed. If comparing to an EVO, it will look different but you should see a single screw and a wire going to a round plastics object and to a hole in the case.
You may have to go with a new module. I'd check the connections to it..
You may want to buy a compression tester.
