Thanks for your advice.

If it ain't broke..................... ;I would leave the front alone.

Just because the work was done in a machine shop doeen't mean something can't be wrong but you won't know without a look/see. With the three heat cycles and 25 miles, it could be that the rings in that cylinder are taking longer to seat. 98HRFB's suggestion of putting a few more miles of "break in" isn't a bad idea. Give the rings another 100 miles or so of break in riding before pulling the head. Who knows, worth a try and the rings might seat.

Thanks djl. I did another 50 miles and no change. Now starting to get a puff of white smoke coming out the air cleaner when the engine is shut off, not sure what that is....
Anyways, the bike is back on the lift and I'm starting tear down today of the rear cylinder. I'll post up pictures of what I find.
Cheers

Is this carbed or injected? And post up a pic of the front spark plug.. Do think you ran it lean overheating the rear cylinder.

Default what was done to the build?

Ran smoothly and pulled hard. I assumed it was an air / fuel / leak issue. I did a compression test and got 180psi front and 190psi rear. So I thought all was ok.

Today I fired it up the bike to check for intake manifold leaks and then a LOT of GREY smoke started coming out the rear cylinder exhaust....

Shut it down and then checked the oil. It was very very frothy, and murky dark brown in color. This was fresh oil I put in yesterday.

Could I've done the head gasket? There are no signs of damage / leaking around the base of the heads or top of the cylinder fins??
Retested the rear cylinder compression and it's still bang on 180psi....
Thanks for any advice.
I've never done a head gasket before on a bike or a car....

what do the spark plugs tell you? are they clean or fouled? oil deposit well leave a sign on the tips, comp will be high if to much oil within the cylinders. So, and this is just a question, when installing the rings were they fitted? also, have they seated? again just questions

I read half the thread then saw it's from '21,
the second sentence had me raise an eyebrow,
"when a engine is too rich it burns gas first, then oil second",
.
