Default Cam chain tensioner age

Looks good from a wear standpoint but is there any reason to replace based on age since I have cam plate off? OEM part from 2009. Couldn’t find any information about material becoming brittle and cracking. This is the secondary/ inner cam shoe which costs $40 from dealership. Thanks for your input.

1 - Use aftermarket shoes, same quality an HD but cost less.
2 - Pulled mine when my 07 Dyna hit 100,000 miles. They looked like yours. I did treat it to a new set of shoes along with an AMS 105" top end and replaced the compersator sprocket with a solid motor sprocket.

Why'd you pull it? Just to look at it? Anytime you go to the trouble to take something apart replace the inexpensive stuff with the new and improved ones.

Putting Andrews 48H cams in and replacing upper covers, lower rocker boxes and tappet covers with chrome. Bonus I can use same pushrods as I didn’t want to mess with adjustables. Pics of my progress:

They look ok but you're there so why not go with new ones? The newer HD ones are decent but Cyco is the way to go and about a quarter of the price since you're not paying for the little chunk of aluminum that the moco sells with theirs.

Right on. As Screaming Beagle says, you're there and new Cyco ones are cheap.
