Default How to prime new build with oil

I am wondering if there is a proper procedure for priming a new engine build with oil? When I built a couple of LS engines, I primed the oil galleys with a pressure pot full of oil. So far, when it comes to twin cams, all I have been seeing is builders applying liberal amounts of assembly lube on all of the contact surfaces.

Should I assume “this is the way”? Some builders even pack the oil pump with petroleum jelly to lube and promote suction in the pump. Thoughts?

I use assembly lube on all parts and crank over with no plugs or fuel till the light/gauge is reading. I have always pre-oiled in car/truck engines. The crank and rods on the Harleys are roller, no need for pressure immediately as long as it has assembly lube/oil on it already.

Same here. Assembly lubed everything then turned motor over without plugs until I had oil coming out of the sending unit hole.
