Advice upgrading 2001 EFI system. Any and all. Thank you
Surely there has to be someone still floating on these forums that have experienced, seen, or heard of someone converting the early 2001 harley marellia system into a usable tunable fuel injected system.
I planned to upgrade to the 98" kit soon. I also have a background in fuel Injection tuning with previous vehicle's..
Any and all help is much appreciated. I started trying to get some information from other threads.. but did not get to far as most haven't been online in 8 years.

I helped a guy do a FLHPI to the 2002 up system. It wasn't too hard. You can convert the fuel tank all with parts from an 2002. The hose that goes external is different than the 03-ups. I suspect that all the guts in the tank are the same up to 2007 other than the one hose. You can use the sub harness off a 2002 that connects the Delphi ECU to the main harness. It may not be available but all the parts are. It uses a 12 pin connector and the 01 harness is only 8 pins.
Here is the connection list were used to connect up a Tmax that works in 02 to 07 baggers. You need to add the ion sense wire to the coil and coil if going Delphi. The "other" connection is typically a separate wire. Fuse the wire going to the battery.
Use a 2002 to 2005 throttle body and sensors. If wanting to use a later TB (has to be fly by cable) you have to figure out how to convert the injectors, IAC and possibly something else (don't know).
If you hunt around you can find genII and genIII Tmaxs for around $300. They are tunable out of the box but are Alpha-N and not speed density like the delphi. They require 18mm wide bad Bosch sensors in the head pipes.

i do believe I'm going to go with the 2006 with the delphi, add the o2 sensors and tune the delphi. Going with a 98" kit hoping the increased throttle body size helps.
If I fail at finding a 06 harness and pcm combo. I will go with the 2004/2005 route. With an 05 pcm.
Did anyone put together a part compatibility chart on this forum? (Exhaust, fuel tank, fairing etc).
.
This could make a fun small build thread for future conversions.

The 06 up one piece throttle bodies really don't flow any more than the early Delphi unless you change the throttle blade and port the body. IMO it's better to go aftermarket. The best early one is a Kuryacyn 57mm. Going 06 up, HPI smaller takeoff would be good.
When using 06 up wiring, remember the o2 sensors are narrow band without heaters.
No table, not to many perform the conversion. You can download a drag specialties catalog and get an idea of what fits what from there. Also the on line parts sellers will have HD parts lits you can browse through.
Good luck with the project. I have my own coming up but it's really rebuilding a blown 116ci into a 107ci.

Hijack Jae, but can't let this go by without comment. I have been trying to get Max to reveal what he will build out his basket case 116; now I am wondering if the 107 is an all bore or under square (boring). Whichever the case; looking forward to the thread Max.

It will be all bore. Stock 2000 crank. Just had the cases (out of a 2001 RK off ebay) checked by the CHP and I can start building the motor. Still waiting on cylinder sleeves from Advanced Sleeve. Have the pistons. Wiseco with 3.5 cc domes (will check).. CR was 11.3. New setup will be about 11.0 to 1.

On a Touring MM, you just unhook the igntion harness from the main harness and plug in an 01-02 Touring ignition harness - available from NAMZ or take off. -04 harness has gauges on the bus so look for an 02-03. Wiring changes are MINIMAL just comparing schematics when mating the harnesses.

I did this before PowerVision and all the current aftermarket solutions. I made it closed loop by using an 05A ECM (has to be 05A or later to have 02 control), flashed it as an 02-05 touring VIN (Digital Tech or obtain a take off) and used SEPST to flash in an 06 Closed loop Dyna cal.
