I used the ignition harness from an 02-03 touring. No gauges, no main harness or anything that complicated were needed. (Post number 8 should say 02-03 not 01-02). Using an 05a or later ecm allows you to wire in factory 02 sensors and use a closed loop cal.
Looks like in the conversion referenced in post 10 the gauges are on the bus but I did ‘t see the need to rewire the whole bike and replace gauges.
I have an 00 FLTRSEI and kept the CVO gauges.
