Help. 99 Dyna, over torqued stator bolts and spun one out.
Hey Guys,
new posting here, but have been tuning into discussion for some time now.
have a 99 dyna and I replaced the stator today.
stupidly, I over torqued the stator bolts because I miss read 40in-lb and 40 ft-lbs
OOPS.
as I was tightening them, I luckily started to suspect my mistake so three bolts survived.
do you think it will be ok to run with only 3 bolts; lock tite’d?
4th hole stripped out so I removed the bolt and cleaned out the hole.
let me know what you think.
thanks

There are 4 bolts in there for a reason, get it fixed correctly or you may be paying for more expensive issues later.
Oh and welcome to the forum.

You’re right.
helicoil is an easy fix too.
Replaced the stator and the regulator.. still isn’t charging anyway so I might as well make another day of it and do everything right.
