I was thinking that but peeking inside, it looks like the rear. Simply rolling on coming out of a corner close if not WOT. Rs were probably about 4K. Bike started to slow, got the clutch in quickly. It might have locked up before the clutch in but it was fast enough that the skid wasn't noticeable.

I had a roller bearing motor go few years back. Three cylinder inline 2 stroke. Of course it was turning WOT.. one of those rare slick days on the bay. Oil mix stopped in one of the carbs. Rollers on the crank looked like long ribbons of tin foil. Rod didn't break but side clearance wacked a part out of the case.

A new 4 cylinder made a world of difference in bottom end. Big is better. Don't care what the girls say. They are just being polite when they say that.?

Have you ever had a full motor lockup, at speed, without warning? The bike will be uncontrollable and the event will usually not end well for the rider. That situation is what I was referring to.

I would think that with a connecting rod like Harley's with no caps, it failing is remote. Overheated would drag down power like braking. If you came off throttle fast, it would lock up and slide the back tire till you got the clutch in.

Straight line might not be so bad. I sure would hate to be in a turn. It's like big time oversteer. Like in a car, you must turn into it carefully if there is someplace to go.

Like you said, shame on you if there's no place to go.

Be interesting to see what let go to let something hit the block.

Man, that's not even going to be a pretty paperweight. Boat anchor maybe.
