88 cubes throwing in the Towel

You know Spivitz in days gone by the Fat Boys were just stripped down Heritage bikes from the looks of things. I know they are a lot different now, but I've often wondered if a modern Fat Boy could be outfitted sort of like a Heritage with the bags and windshield. Have you looked into that option?
No Sir, I enjoying being able to lean just a little bit into a corner.
Plus, I need no additional weight.
Going for a cruise now

It is very nice having more than one type of bike.

One thing I would ask your mechanic is if he thinks the starter clutch may have been damaged. I haven't heard about that problem on the 88 motors, just the 96 inchers. If you have never had issues starting the motor when hot then that part is probably fine, especially since it seems the comp went crazy all at once instead of gradually. What I've seen happen a lot on the 96s is the comp would wear out over time (springs getting weak) and when you try to start the bike hot it slams against the stop and kicks back against the starter. Mine got really trashed because of that weak comp.
Anyhow it sounds like you are in good shape I just thought I'd mention that scenario in case any of those issues rang a bell with you.

Heading to NC to drop off the Fat Boy for its 1,000 mile service and picking up the Heritage.
New stator, rotor and I had them put in new rocker box gaskets. Looking forward to hearing my twin Woods TW6 Cam'd 88 cubes breathing through those Rinehart's.
The shop says motor is healthy.
The 2021 is bone stock, way too quiet IMO

Mission Accomplished
This morning, cruised the Fat Boy to North Carolina for its 1,000 mile service and picked up the Heritage. WOW what a difference getting back on the 2005.
Man I missed "That sound"
Took the scenic route home, Blue Ridge Parkway.
