Default MoCo engine rebuild program.

When it's time for an upgrade/rebuild of the 88B in my 2000 FatBoy I'll be checking out the factory rebuild program. The rebuild is warranted.

I wouldn't if they do a motor exchange. The 00s had good cranks and timken bearings. There are indies that can build a nice motor out of what you got cheaper than the exchange. BTW HD don't to factory rebuilds any more. Not even sure they'll touch that motor.

Default H-D only supplies long blocks with upgraded displacement

They do a long block exchange and you can upgrade the 88B to either 95CI or 103CI.

2000 FatBoy with over 75K miles.

Soon, I will know.

Trailer in route to grab the Heritage.

I am leaning towards compensation nut came loose, aka a primary issue.

It fires right up, idles fine.
In fact when I first heard the noise while riding it I went hard from first through 3 & the motor sounded normal.

Obviously say a little prayer it ain't the bottom end.

My pal whom builds motors "thinks" the motor is fine.
Primary issue.

I'll report back

Meanwhile, out on the road

You know Spivitz in days gone by the Fat Boys were just stripped down Heritage bikes from the looks of things. I know they are a lot different now, but I've often wondered if a modern Fat Boy could be outfitted sort of like a Heritage with the bags and windshield. Have you looked into that option?

Pro-Twin Performance in Winder, GA. It's worth the drive.
