Default Disconnecting compression release ? 2014 Ultra

Im wanting to get a compression check on my motor its a 103 2014 in a Ultra Limited. I've read there is a compression release system. How do I disconnect that to get a good compression number?

1) if you have a tuner, you can disable them in the options

2) unplug them

Why do you want to check compression? Is the bike not running right?

Bike is running fine. I just like to give the bike a once over at beginning of riding season.

How many times have you checked the compression on your car, lol. Whatever you do, don't buy a bore scope.

Follow the wires back from each compression release. You'll eventually hit a plug. Pull it apart.

You will have to lift the back of your tank up.

On my daily driver none. On my drag car leak down and/or compression check at least once a season

So bike is 7 years old, you like to give it a once over at the beginning of the riding season, but I assume since you're asking about ACR's you've never checked compression before?

Like cars, compression is usually only checked when your bike is having issues, showings symptoms, burning oil etc. A lot of people seem to think Harleys are some kind of sophisticated high tech race engine. They're buying bore scopes to peer inside, checking compression, measuring runout etc. Then they post their results asking if they should be concerned, or worried because they saw carbon on their piston. It's almost like a mechanical type of hypochondria. You don't see them doing that with their vehicles or lawnmowers.

I'm a believer in, if it ain't broke, leave it. But that's just me. If you have the gear, use it, but I wouldn't go out and buy stuff just so I could satisfy my curiosity.

Let us know, how you make out.

Jim
