If the bike was new to me, I would be checking compression too and writing it down for future reference. I have the tools so I would also be checking leak down for the same reason. Depending on mileage, I might also check run out and take a once over of the cam chest components. If any of the symptoms roussfam posted present in the future; the OP has a baseline for reference; nothing wrong with that.

^This^ It's smart. One of the first things I do.
Easiest way is with your tuner if you have one. If you don't, you should seriously think about getting one but in the meantime they can be physically disabled as well.
Even a bone stock bike would benefit from a tuner, btw. Any performance upgrades, even a stage 1, and they're pretty much a necessity.

Sometimes it's fun to perform work on your bike, if only to learn more about how its systems function. Call it bonding. Might even trip over something that's an issue but hasn't manifested itself into a full blown disaster yet.
