Pressure tested using a friends guage. Its goes up 20 psi when priming then drops when done. I was curious what would happen if I plugged the regulator with my finger and when I switched it to run, it shot up 60 psi and held around 40-50 before letting my finger go. So im guessing the brand new regulator I put on is faulty?

@nutsandbolts5212
it has a screamin eagle tuner. Im not exactly sure how long it was sitting without running. Original owner only put on 500 miles since he bought new in 09.

So I know that you cleaned the tank and guts but are we saying that gas sat in that bike for 12 years?

I wouldnt say 12 years based on the condition of everything was in. Maybe a year or so.

The regulator is either defective or some crap got stuck in it. It should hold 55-60 psi. Check for cracks in the housing tho.

Gotcha, I had the door wide open with the regulator facing into the tank and eveything from the lines to the housing checks out fine. Im guessing that the regulator is wide open since it doesnt hold pressure in the system during and after priming, it also leaks right thru the port when its faced down with fuel in the line. First was the check valve line not being able to hold pressure where it was leaking thru the hose area at the housing and now probably the regulator as well, im starting to believe Drag Specialties fuel parts arent as good as OEM or im just having a bad batch.

Have another question-Did you pull the diagnostic codes, I'm pretty sure something will pop up. If you don't know how check out this video

I did and part of it was my fault. I disconnected the tpms after checking it but forgot to connect it back on and cranked it. Connected it and deleted and never came back on.

Problem fixed. Faulty fuel pressure regulator, replaced it and pressure held a steady 60 psi. I guess its a hit or miss with aftermarket parts.
