Default 2011 FXDC 96ci CAM ONLY upgrade

Looking to do a cam swap in my 2011 FXDC. I have a thunderheader, high flow rsd filter, and a power vision tuner. Looking for a good increase in arm stretching torque. I ride pretty aggressively. I normally cruise around in 3rd gear and keep it around 3k RPMs to keep it responsive. Not looking to do any headwork at this time. Looking for cam only upgrades. Was leaning towards the Andrew’s 48 or the Woods TW222 just for the torque factor. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

Both seem to have some good information. I’ve read through the fuelmoto one a couple times on their page. Does it matter that they used a 103ci for the comparison though?

My Indy recommended s&s 585s, I told them I ride aggressively and redline the bike pretty often and they said the 585s are about the biggest cams they can install without changing other stuff. They said they’ve had great results and people are pretty happy with them. I thought I’d need more compression for those cams though? I did email s&s and they told me they work better with a compression boost, and I’d be better off with the 551, 570, or 583. I’m not too partial to s&s but I’m not against using them. Based on dyno sheets alone piqued my interest on the woods cams.

I don't have the experience to answer that question. I do know that the Andrews 48H works well in both the 96 & 103. I have an Andrews 48H in my garage waiting to be installed in my 96ci.

Gotcha. I’m gonna go back and talk to my Indy again. So many options and opinions to interpret lol. Can’t wait to see the end results either way.

Contact Fuel Moto and ask them what cam they recommend. Let them know exactly what you are looking for and how you ride. Take the guesswork out.

Good call. I’ll give them a shout tomorrow. Hopefully they can help me out, they seem like good people over there. I’m just not 100% sure how to explain how I ride I guess. I do like to run through the gears, shifting at around 5k - 5500 RPMs. Sometimes I like to stay in the “sweet spot” around 3k RPMs to have the throttle response a little more snappy. I’ll just tell em that and see what they say lol. I’d like my bike to power wheelie if I’m really getting after it through the gears. I assume that is torque vs horsepower but I’m no professional. My buddy’s 2004 FXD will lift the front tire off the ground through the first 2-3 gears if you’re in the throttle hard. That’s what I like. I don’t really go past 100 mph very often, but I like to get up to 100 mph as fast as I can if that makes sense. Quickness vs speed I guess.

Tell them that. They will tell you what cam you need based on what you want your bike to do. They'll probably ask you a few more questions.
