I have a 2010 softail deluxe with Samson Fishtails, an Arlen Ness stage 1 cleaner, and an FP3 tuner. This week is the first week i have started the bike since last year and it is idling extremely high. It idles around 3000 RPM and to get it to reset I have to switch it off and cycling the ignition a few times and it was drop back down to normal. I am going to check the IAC solenoid but does anybody have any other suggestions? Rpm seems fine after resetting with the ignition but everytime i turn it on i have to do that.

 

Check you bike for error codes , might lead you in the right direction . Checking the iac is a good start , probably needs a good cleaning , get yourself a can of tb cleaner and place a rag inside before spraying . You can also cycle the ignition , not start , but open / close the iac to really get the gunk out , remember to do the butterfly and seat as well .

Another thing you could do is clean all the connectors with some electrical contact cleaner , iac , tps , map , injectors etc . Putting a little dielectrical grease before connecting will help keep corrosion out . Don't forget to pull your main fuse before disconnecting connectors .
