S&S583 vs S&SMR103?

Well, like ya said, you like to engineer the combinations. But what happens when someone wants or is running something outside your norm? Different exhaust requires a different tune. Often way different. Especially timing.
There are builders here, not saying you're one of them, that are responsible for people.here believing that they need a 2in1 exhaust to make any kind of decent power. Why? Probably cuz is all they know how to tune because it's one of the biggest lines of pure bs here. I know full well what my exhaust is capable of.
I have no faith in builders/tuners in general here because of widespread misconceptions like this that started with them. I'd have to have a screw loose to let one of them tune my bike or even worse, do my head work.
Another thing is cams and compression ratios. Can't run those cams without a compression bump. I can't count the number of times I hear that about anything but torque cams. Including the 570s I'm running in my 103. Nevermind my CC was 190psi with them in a bone stock 103. 200psi now with just a .030 head gasket. Much more compression and it would be ping city.
I cringe when I hear people like the OP here putting cams like the 583s in bikes like his. Where do they get this from?
You're from the racing world? Then you know full well in that world, hp wins races yet the general consensus is just the opposite. And gearing is huge yet not one builder here that I know of anyway advocates or ever recommends it for people whose riding style would sure benefit from it. In a big way. It can be a huge bump in power to the rear wheel in bikes whose gearing leaves a lot to be desired for many of us.
Granted not everyone rides the same and we're mostly dealing with street bikes, not race bikes, but it takes a good balance or low end torque and hp to make a good street bike.
This isn't directed at you, Scott. Just what I see going on here in general and why there's such a distrust among some of us when it comes to things like dyno numbers.
More often than not, those peak numbers really don't mean jack anyway. It's not what makes a build. But we're all guilty of putting way too much stock in that piece of paper at one time or another.
