Default Check those tensioners now!

Picked up my 2000FLSTC 32k from Rolling Thunder Performance today after leaving it three days for hydraulic cam tensioners, SE cam plate, sprockets, bearings and chains. I also gave them permission to replace cams, lifters and 2 piece push rods if necessary.
The original 80 year old owner was all highway back and forth to the west coast.
I was blessed taking my Softail in for this work now. In the photos you can clearly see that although the outer tensioner was worn, the inner tensioner was ready to hand grenade my motor even though she ran perfectly.
You can also see the wear on the cam which he replaced with HD stock cams and lifters.
I owe a huge thank you for all the information on this forum regarding tensioners. I trailered the bike to the shop.....had I ridden her it could have been her last ride. THANK YOU ALL FOR EDUCATING ME

Anyone who leaves oem shoes in a 1999-2006 (2005 for Dynas) is literally begging for that. THERE IS NO SAFE MILEAGE because they break apart. There was a recent "build" thread here where someone put hour upon hour installing handlebars/other stuff on a nice early twin cam and never once cracked the cam cover.

When I was young, the motor was the most important part of a motorcycle. Now it's T bars, apes, gauges higher than your head and a stereo. The power plant is on it's own.

Mine on my 04 EGC looked pretty close to that with 42,000 on it.

Glad I caught mine before I went riding for the summer. Now I check them every 2 years. that is about 15,000 miles.
I know I should upgrade the plate etc, but just don't want to spend that kind of money. Maybe will do the upgrade kit when I possibly do a big bore kit. Who knows.

I went with the gear driven camshaft to eliminate this possible situation on my 2004 FXSTSI.
