I do like the idea of keeping the cylinder walls as thick as possible. I know you can take the stock bores to 107" but again I worry about reliability and longevity of my motor...not to mention that I would have to reeplace the entire cylinder if I had mine bored to 107" and needed to go oversized in future as opposed to a small oversize boring..
Well, I have gone and done a 106 S&S Big bore upgrade. Well it's underway anyway.
S&S 106 BB
S&S crankshaft
S&S oil pump and cam plateJim's Powerglide II liftersS&S cam chain tensionerFueling 543 cams
103 ACR heads (stage 2) 1.9 intake valve etc.. AV&V valves with VSK600S valve springs. Done by JPrecision in Quebec.
my hope is that if I want to go to a higher lift cam later I will have future proofed the build a bit...

Now to the question, I don't know anything about the Jim's Powerglide II lifter or the higher lift spring being used by the head porter. The lifter was the recommended one from the guy doing the rebuild.
Is it any good? How will it perform with the Spring in the heads being used?

Have been doing a lot of research and think this might make a good combo. I was just lookin fer some lower range HP/TQ, hope I’ll get what I’m lookin fer! I think fer the dollars the two lefty bearings will handle what I’ll end up with just fine🤷🏼‍♂️
You did hijack Jordan's thread and my bad for not pointing that out in my previous reply. Without the details referenced in my previous post, we can't help much. If the heads are HD, they have a part number which will ID the heads. You are saying 10.5 static but truly don't know what static CR is without knowing the chamber volume. Get some details and start a new thread on the project if you want help. I have seen too many "first builds" end up leading to a second build because the first build plan was flawed..

Never used the Jim's lifter your referenced in your last post so can't comment; Johnson Hy-Lifts with pin oiling from Larry's Machine seem to be the "go to" lifter these days. The VSK 600S springs are straight double wound. I would have selected the VSK 600 beehive springs with a little less open pressure.

Thanks for the response, those springs are what come as part of the standard stage 2 from that company. What's the difference in performance between the vehicle and straight springs?
Is that pressure that those springs come with problematic?
How does the spring pressure differ from the stock 103 springs or for that matter the springs in a 110.
