96”internally balanced bottom end
I have a Softail that has the 96 motor or did have . But I’ve built it to a 110 that runs really strong for what it is .The mechanic that does the work on my bike tells me that with the internally balanced motor , you can’t get as much torque. My question is , when It’s time for me to do the crank , what can be done with this internally balanced crank so it will turn up quicker .? To produce more torque . Do I have to scrap the bottom end and just get an S&S Motor ? Do they build strokers anymore? Just looking for technical information . Thanks in advance ...

96 internally balanced
Due to the counter balance system, it just makes it a bad choice to build up. Yours is a 110, and if ya go with a stroker crankshaft, look into removing the balancers. Mind ya, it's rigid mounted to the frame (not like the rubber mounted Dyna TC96A engines. IT WILL VIBRATE A LOT.

96” internally balanced crank upgrades
I’m looking for upgrades on the internally balanced crank so it will turn up quicker. More torque.. should I Do away with The balancer and look for a solution for the solid mounts ? Or should I look for a high dollar crank that has the balancing but does better than the stock crank ? Do they even make rubber mounts for an 07 Softail ? Or Maybe S&S has some magic motor that turns out gobs of torque and is balanced enough for the solid mounts . Thanks in advance guys

I have a premier motor in my Softail .. Everyone questions my torque and Hp results on the dyno . But you know how it is , we always want more torque more HP .. but I’m going into the bottom end pretty soon and am researching for options on my internally balanced motor .. Just want the most I can get since it costs an arm and a leg to get power out of these bikes ...

already have 11.5.1 compression and 585 cams with s&s heads , so it seems kinda maxed out for a 110 .. maybe I’ll go to the 124 but I kinda wanted to work with what I’ve got to step it up some more .. it also has 58mm tb with big injectors too ... Maybe a different grind cams setup ..but I’m still wondering about the weighted crank .. it’s a dilemma or at least pretty complex for my skills ..

I have no problem with my B motor and making power and it recently put a 110 CVO in it's place. Ya do have to take care not to run it over 6200rpm, and my cams, S&S 570s, pull to 5700. I set my rev limiter at 6000rpm and regulatly burn the cobwebs out bumping or nearly bumping it and my normal cruise is around 3000rpm running the 30 tooth from Evolution Industries.
A big bore kit and some headwork are in the plans for the off season to make it a modest but respectable 110+/120+ B motor. Way more power than I need and the 30 tooth makes it scary quick as that 110 found out.
IMO the softail is the ultimate in power and rideability and still feel like you're riding a motorcycle, not a cadilac on 2 wheels. Much better at the slow speed, parking lot maneuverability too.
