Default 103 to 110 Conversion or not

Hello, I recently joined this site and I have an oil leak in the rear cylinder rocker box cover of my 2011 Electra Glide Ultra. I have 73,330 miles on it. I am going to take it to get the gasket repaired in another week. I considered upgrading the stock 103 to a 110 (9250031 kit) but for around 5 to 10 extra HP and Torque from what I have researched at a cost of nearly $4k, I can't justify the expense.

It has a stock 103 and over the years (I got it in Dec of 2011) I've added a high flow Performance Machine air filter, V&H True Dual headers with CFR muffles, and tuned it with a SE Super Tuner Pro generating 75.42 HP and 94.43 TQ. Which is disappointing, but the service tech told me for the Colorado elevation these numbers were reasonable with the stock cam.

I also have considered getting a different cam or maybe doing a high compression conversion kit (92500023A). I am looking for more overall power throughout the RPM range particularly passing power when passing semi's and slower traffic in our Wyoming wind and long hills and mountain roads. Thanks for your suggestions!

Hillside used to offer a budget 107 jugs and piston kit for a very reasonable price. Post your question in the engine section for more opinions.

Rebuild to 107" head work, cams and tune to 110-115 and have some $$ left over; maybe.

Budget Build - 107" top end, SE-255 Torque cams and 10:1 forged pistons. Face it, it ain't gonna be a race bike. Just low $$$ freshen up of the engine to give it more overall performance.

Thank you all for your response, what does it take to do a top end 107 conversion? Is there a kit for this?

Also, I looked for an appropriate forum to post this, is there another forum for engine related questions aside of the Twin Cam forum?

A 107" conversion requires boring OEM cylinders to be fitted with new pistons; just a top end re-build.

Most of the gear heads hang out over in the Engine Mechanical section of the forum. You will get enough input over there to thoroughly confuse you.

just now getting my 110 broke in and my motor was originally a 96’ . Well , I first went with a 103 top end and wasn’t happy with the power increase.. So then I had a 110 kit with the 2” valve heads and throttle body with injectors . And what a difference that made . It was initially running on a downloaded map and ran pretty good . Then had it tuned on a dyno by this guy that races Drag bikes . And I have to say that it went from 108 hp and 118 torque.. To 129 hp and 138 torque.. This bike has plenty of power and is a real blast to ride . My only concern is with long runs on the interstate and the longevity of the engine.. But mine is an 07 model with 30k miles .. But maybe I’m just paranoid. But at this point. I’m very pleased with the kit .. It was an S&S kit with the 89cc heads.. 585 cams .. I would recommend a high volume oil pump if you go this route.. That’s what I’m looking into now ...

Those are almost unbelievable numbers out of a 110 kit. What RPMs are those numbers peaking at? And what else other than the 585 cams, tb and injectors is in there?

The S&S cam plate and oil pump are both well made products as well, I put them into my 110" with 585G cams late last season. I was able to compare the S&S oil pump next to a Fueling, and the S&S looked better machined to my eyes. I haven't had a dyno tune yet, but that is coming up when business gets a little more normal.
