Soldering works great when done right. Butt connectors work ok, sometimes, even when done "right".

We been using Posi-Locks and Posi-Taps for a few years now. Super easy, and 100% reliable.

One thing I always do when using anything that isn't soldered with rosin fluxed solder is fill the crimp/tap with dielectric grease. Saves electrical problems down the road.
If the connection is where it can be soldered do so. Don't go half way. Sooner or later you will pay the price.
I also use crimp and posi-lock/tap connectors but not in a critical connection. Part of the trick is to not buy insulated terminals. You won't be tempted. But a soldered connection is always best.
Another thing. If you use any heat shrink tube try waterproof or marine tubing. It has an adhesive inside that seals air/water proof.

installed mud flaps this morning. Got them from Frank's Leather Products. Frank was very helpful and kept in communication as he was making the flaps. I like the hook and loop so no drilling on my fenders.

If you can find a local guy that can rebuild it, that might be best. The other option is go to to a mechanical reverse. Most, if not all, install off the right side of the transmission...where your clutch cable is.
I can't understand that motor being priced that high.
It looks like a normal starter motor from a car engine.
Makes me wonder if it could be matched up to some other manufacturer's unit.
I know Harley is way proud of their parts and accessories, but that is robbery.

from what I understand it is more of a high torque motor than the starter motors. But yeah way over priced.

I'm sure a starter rebuild shop will cross reference the numbers and let you know exactly what it is. I was told they were (mitisibishi) my spelling sucks! that is what I was given anyway. Fred

With the storms last night, I figure most of the salt is gone. Starting out slowly, today I removed the storage cover. I will wait for one more rain.
