Cigarette Lighter

AND, what a lousy location if you want to use it for the intended use. It is not very accessible while riding JMO.

You are so right Buddy! Especially with bulky gloves on...if you don't hit the "hole" just right the lighter will go flying down the road (ask me how I know) lol

I have used my cig lighter for charging phone, MP3 player, e-cig batteries, also used it to power air pumps. No problems.

I've used mine to charge my cellphone and GPS unit. I also use it to power my sirius satellite radio. I've had no problems doing this with mine.
Any dealer that tells you it's not for charging use is providing an excuse to not look into it. Go to another dealer or employee at that dealer and show them the problem.

Ok just found this, there is a difference between a usb charging cable and a usb data cable, I dont have time to research it more but the cable are wired differently.
that is why if you use a data cable you get the phone saying that it thinks it is hooked up to a computer but it wont charge.

I remember something about the Samsung being wired backward on purpose so that you had to buy their cable.
I don't have time to find that right now, maybe later.

Charging cable only has 2 wires connected to each connector. Data cable has all the rest connected. Never had a problem charging my Samsung phone with any charge or data cable. Samsung Tablet uses a proprietary cord. iPhone and iPad cords are different, look the same, but an iPad won't charge on an iPhone cord or charger.
