Tour-pak rack, and rear fender bra ?'s

I had a scuff on one of my fenders. I took some rubbing alcohol and rubbed the 3M film down and then hit it with polish. Using the alcohol is what the installer told me to do and it worked.

Was that straight or did you cut it with water? I'm to the point that I'm going to try my DA buffer. Today I actually tried WD40 with no success. Thankfully it didn't hurt the 3M film.

It was straight and the rag was soaked. It needs to be rubbing alcohol though. I rub the spot several times with the soaked rag and try to keep it off the remainder of the fender. The alcohol will not hurt the paint if you get some on it. Give it a try.

I have a black TP rack and use it quite a bit. It is scuffed. It started out as a chrome aftermarket rack that I had powder coated. If it every gets too bad I will have it powdered again.
Have 3m film on the rear fenders and side covers. Lot's of scuff marks...better the film than the paint.

I would wait until I had more than one skuff to replace the film. That is unless it is bad enough to wrinkle the film, or is obvious to people. Not just because you know it's there. A fella could spend all his time replacing film.....
I got a small rock chip on the rear fender that bothered the heck out of me. Had to point it out to people... Almost forgot it is still there, and I have to look for it.
Rock missed the film. Went between the front face, & the outside film !!
Road scars.... It'll probably have many more down the road !

Thanks for all the good info.
Using the film kit from HD, or other supplier?
Put it on yourself or have it done?
I've installed small pieces with success.
Bigger piece like the rear fender of my SG, not so pretty. Hard to keep the edges from wrinkling up along the contour, and some finger prints from rasslin' with the edges.
I use it there to protect the finish from the passenger pillion.
Works great for keeping the fender nice when I just have the solo seat on.
