Personally, I like my exhausts to be a dark gray but I also have older bikes.

Keep an eye on other folks' bikes and see how they look.

If you're concerned about yours, ask the service manager about it the next time you go in for service.

Yeah I still have the cat I wanted to wait till the warranty runs out to change the head pipe but, even though I have wrapped the pipes the heat may cause me to do it sooner.

On my Heritage, my pipes were black, I decatted and they turned grey, I installed XIED's and now a light gold/yellow. Runs good, cooler and good mpg.

The business of the cat is to do a re-burn on leftover hydrocarbons . That is where it gets the heat from. You should not have much of any color, other than brown or gray past the cat.
You just did a download, I guess it was a Stage 1, so you shouldn't be rich.
If you do the cat you probably will want to do a tuner, so you won't be running lean with your other mods. You could be on the lean side right now, but maybe the cat is giving enough back pressure so the flow isn't high enough.
Did they do a dyno tune when they put in the download ?

I think it may depend on how well the bike is tuned and how hot the pipes get..

I am running rush slip-ons, header is de-catted, bike runs strong and cool. Inside of slip-ons are charcoal black/gray. I have the pipes & the EFI "tuned" so the AFR in the pipes is just right for lots of decel pop (which I like), otherwise the inside of the slip-ons would probably be black.

Kevin hit the nail on the head. Once you get the mods done like his or in my sig and your choice of tuner, when the tune is correct the mufflers will color up properly.

The color you described would be nice on the porcelen part of the spark plugs. Just curious but what color are your plugs?
