Default Extra Long Service

I took my TG to the HD shop for the 1000 mi. service. This dealer will not set an appointment, first come, first served. I arrived at opening time, 9:30 AM. I got out 5 hours and 25 minutes later.....and $340 lighter. It was an hour + ride down there, I could not leave it and come back later. What gives??? I will do all of my future maintenance myself.

Sounds like they are a busy dealership or the SM doesn't like to be held up by a no-show.

Agree, do the service yourself.

It may be a very busy dealer but their customer service went out the door, especially if it had been bought there. Being able to schedule a service is a must.

I have always had a 3-4 wait for the 2500 mile service appointments.

For me, hanging around the dealership and talking to other customers and store employees makes for a decent day so that's what I plan.

Also, it doesn't hurt that they have a new restaurant/bar next door!

I could have stood it better if it had been 3 or 4 hours!!! FIVE hours and 25 minutes, that's not too good. Its a good thing I didn't go to the bar next door, 5 hours of drinking would have made riding home difficult.
What seemed worse, I was sitting outside and the SM came by and said that the tech was taking my TG for a test drive and would check the fluids and I would be good to go. The tech came by at that time and was gone for about 20 minutes. When he came back I waited for the SM to let me know if all was good, never happened. I waited for a while and went in. The SM scrambled out back and returned saying my trike was ready and waiting for me. He then started the paperwork. When he finally finished his thousands of keystrokes, he presented the bill. Could this not have been done sooner? I guess I'm now looking for areas of improvement, they are many.

I'd be looking for another dealer if there is one closer.

Riding season is upon us...no different than taking your lawnmower to small engine service (expect heavy business + long wait). Self service, as you stated, is the best bet...

I've been in that situation. I guess you have to make a pest of yourself and keep asking SM "what's up?". You get stuck in the situation that there isn't another dealer close by and have to contend with what you have.

For that kind of money, you need an appointment to get in and out in a reasonable time.

Can you imagine a Service Dept trying that at a Ford Dealershio?

Find another Service location.
