Default tour pak self-aligning latch

I've always had to kind of align my tour pak lid when I closed it. Well I bought one of those self aligning tour pak latches (part #53000195) & it works as it's supposed to. It's just two new screws and a piece of plastic that replaces the old one on the inside of the tour pak base. The new one has a tapered alignment slot for the existing tab on the tour pak lid lockset. You need a T-5 tork screwdriver & about 5 minutes of time. I ordered it on-line for $12 ($15 dealer).

I just put that latch on my 2012 also along with the chrome hinges. Hinges were a litle bugger to get the stock ones off, just have to be careful to not damage the paint. They say to drill out the rivets with a 3/16 drill bit but found out that a 1/8 works better, then use a 3/16 to drill out the holes bigger for the screws they put in the hinge pack. The chrome hinges look to me alot better that the stock ones if you like chrome.

To me both of these should be standard equipment right from the factory.

But then they wouldn't need an accessory catalog.

When I replaced my hinges, I drilled out one rivet in the top & bottom of each hinge & replaced them with small machine screws. Then drilled out the rest of the rivets. After that I only needed help holding the lid for a few minutes while I swaped out the actual hinges.

It's not really a bad job. My bride and I changed the hinges on my TG and M3 and I changed them on his.

Being the lazy so and so that I am, I just bought the chrome peel and stick Kuryakin hinge covers. Looks fine to me, but I'm not real fussy

I also installed the retractable tourpak lid tether (54171-11) to get rid of that silly sloppy cable that would always hang out when you close the lid.
