Default Right Rear Thumping Noise

This noise is driving me crazy.
I'm getting a thumping noise from the right rear of the TG.
It does it evrytime you go over any of those tar strips going across the
road.
I've taken the trunk and tour pack off, checked everyting under the truck
everything was tight.
Tried changing air pressure in shocks, didn't seem to make adifference.
this thumping seems to be getting worst, or I'm just more aware of it.
I get no rattles or anything like that and the bike rides and handles
very well.
anyone with any kind of idea's that might be causing this would be
greatly appreciated.
thanks
dan

Your car tires do the same thing, only you can't hear them unless you drive around with the windows down. Once again being surrounded by all the body work that comes with a trike, all engine and road noise become magnified. Thats why I always use good earplugs.

If it only happens on one side, you might check the rubber insulator on your muffler rear hanger ( mount ) Just a thought.

+1 I hear stuff on the trike I never hear on 2 wheels and one of them is a thump when going over tar strips.

Thanks for all the replies. I didi look at the muffler mounts, they looked fine,
if I remember correctly I did not have this sound last fall when I put the bike away for the winter. Over the winter put on V&H Dressers duels and Python Predator mufflers,
seems shortly after words this thumping sound started.
Checked and double checked everything on the exhaust system but cannot get rid
of this noise.
hopefully I find something.
thanks again for your replies.

I had the same thing and changed them out with the 2011 rubber mounts since they are longer. Another place I had noise coming from the right rear was the place were the exhaust bracket is under the transmission, the dealer forgot to put that nut and bolt back in and every time I'd hit a hard bump I'd get a banging going on, it took me a long long time to find that one.

Sometimes the darnedest things can "rattle".

When I'm searching for a rattle, knock or squeak my main two tools: a piece of garden hose and a rubber mallet.

Mufflers and exhaust pipes are the most likely culprit, but if this isn't your noise I'd suggest that you check your brake rotor, caliper and pads since the noise is coming from the side of your trike.

I had a rattle in the rear of my Ultra that was driving me nuts.
Since I had two luggage racks fail I thought that I may have a third that needed replacing but that wasn't he problem.
I checked everything (I thought) until I discovered the PIA!
It turned out to be the rubber isolators that mount the passenger backrest to the tour pak that needed replacement.

I have a Squeaky rattle on the left muffler when the my TriGlide warms up. The baffle in the SE muffler loosens up when the muffler expands. Took a while to find it. As long as nothing is going fall off im OK with it.
